In 2017, I left my hometown in Henan, China, to start a new life in the United States, all alone without my mom, dad, or my brother who is three years older than me. I landed in Vancouver, Washington, where I attended a small Catholic high school with only about 30 students in my class, while living with a host family, now my American family, who raised me as their own son throughout my teenage years.
I’m very grateful, because now I’m a man of two countries, with family on both sides of the earth…
